Uisdean is a partner in the Oil & Gas Team. He specialises in upstream oil and gas, both UK and International, and is also involved in advising on oilfield service contracting and construction as well as advising financiers on oil and gas issues arising in finance projects.
Uisdean studied in both Scotland and Louisiana and became qualified as a Scots solicitor and Louisiana attorney in the mid-eighties. He studied Oil & Gas Law at Loiusiana State University.
With some thirty years' oil industry experience, Uisdean has spent much of his adult life abroad, practicing for extended periods in Louisiana, Venezuela and Brazil. He founded (2004) and led the Aberdeen-based oil and gas practice at Maclay Murray & Spens LLP and joined Bond Dickinson as a partner in 2013.
He has extensive experience in all upstream matters including asset and corporate E&P acquisitions, farmouts, JOAs, and commercial agreements. He has a particular interest in international projects and has recently been very active in Africa in such jurisdictions as Morocco, Gambia, Senegal, Nigeria and Uganda. He is also active in the UKCS scene.
He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. A member of the AIPN, he leads the Aberdeen regional committee. He won the Scottish Corporate Lawyer of the Year award in 2007.
Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession quotes Uisdean as a "heavyweight" and says he is recognised for his "significant international experience and for the diverse range of oil and gas work that he conducts".
