We believe ADR and mediation is often the best way of achieving your commercial objectives.

We’re committed to getting you the right outcome and ensuring minimum disruption to your business or life during the litigation process. That’s why we work with every litigation client to consider the possibility for ADR and mediation.

With 255 specialists working for clients across the UK we’re proud of our reputation as one of the best dispute resolution teams in the UK. In fact, almost every partner, directing the team, is recognised by the legal directories as a leader in their field. Our substantial, expert team is one of the reasons that a significant number of FTSE and blue-chip organisations trust us to manage their dispute resolution.

Whilst we’re confident in our ability as specialist court litigators we consider ADR & mediation for every dispute and keep it under review as things progress. Our approach is practical. We use our deep experience and sector understanding to recognise when cases should be fought and when swift, confidential resolution is the best solution.  We provide clear, actionable advice on dispute avoidance, international arbitration, mediation and out of court settlement.

What matters most to us is that you have the best client experience at every stage. We work hard to protect our clients’ interests, to minimise risk and get you the results you want, as well as preserving important relationships, for you, where possible. By building close client relationships, drawing in expertise from across the firm, where needed and applying our deep sector knowledge, we are able to give clear, concise and commercial advice that adds real value to your businesses.

Examples of work

  • Acting for a major Norwegian agricultural co-operative ($500m+ turnover) in a joint venture dispute involving specialist reams in corporate dispute resolution, employment and insolvency. A unique solution was found by using insolvency procedures and the appointment of an administrator to pressure one of the joint venture partners into agreeing a settlement to the shareholder and director disputes. This resulted in our client gaining a majority and controlling stake in the joint venture at a discounted price
  • Working with the in-house team of a FA Premier League football club to resolve a number of contractual disputes confidentially through mediation and before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne

  • Achieved a successful negotiated settlement in an international dispute concerning the supply of power cables by an India-based manufacturer. Following an attempt by the supplier to challenge the jurisdiction of the English courts we achieved a negotiated settlement involving a significant payment to our client.
