Examples of work

  • We conducted a review of a company’s environmental legislation compliance procedure in relation to a multi-billion pound marine building project. This involved interviewing key legal and operational staff members and advising on reporting processes. We prepared a detailed report for the client identifying key areas of risk and recommendations for improving their compliance procedures.
  • We advised a major oil company on a critical compliance issue concerning water discharge, waste management obligations and transfrontier obligations under waste legislation. Our advice enabled the client to proceed in its commercial activities having received a clear view of the legal position.
  • We advised the UK operation of a multinational chemicals manufacturer in relation to the full range of environmental issues arising from the decommissioning and demolition of a production plant. Our strategic advice has enabled the client to proceed with confidence in its engagement with regulators and manage its activities in a way unlikely to give risk to significant liability burdens.
  • We advised a large refining and chemicals company on the closure and remediation of a former manufacturing facility. Our role has included advising on the company’s obligations pursuant to permit surrender, remediation obligations and on the selection and appointment of environmental consultants and remediation contractors. We provided strategic advice to the client on day to day issues and have been an integral part of the multi-national project team which includes site personnel and senior management.
  • We provide a virtually real-time environmental and health & safety law extranet for subscribing clients. Each client has unlimited access to an extranet platform that is client-branded and bespoke to each client's activities. Providing information in plain-English for each of the four UK jurisdictions on all topics relevant to a client, the extranet highlights differences between jurisdictions, enabling clients to develop UK-wide governance and policies that will meet all relevant legal requirements. Designed to be used at every level within an organisation, the extranet is personalised at the point of access by individuals within an organisation, enabling choice of jurisdictions and areas of interest for news alerts, legislation updates and hot topics.

Our clients include: General Motors (UK) Limited, Huntsman Corporation, Innovia Films Limited, Fine Organics Limited, Bellway, J Sainsbury’s plc, RES UK & Ireland Limited and the Education Funding Agency.
