Julian is the lead partner in the IT and Technology team. His main areas of practice are in information technology and e-commerce, including the development and licensing of software, outsourcing, online services and data protection. Clients include major retailers, government bodies, and financial institutions. Particularly known for his work on retail IT systems, Julian also advises on large IT outsourcing projects, including in the regulated financial services sector.

Julian is a member of The Society for Computers and Law, The International Bar Association (Technology Law committee), and is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

Experience

  • In-sourcing and consolidation of various previously outsourced functions (IT service delivery and business processes) for an international wealth management organisation constituting critical outsourcings for FCA purposes and relating to a large number of insurance policies
  • Assisting a financial adviser network in its adoption of a novel technology platform to provide wealth management functions and information on-line to its adviser network
  • Conducting negotiations for an international retail group with SAP for the licensing and configuration/integration of a new global trading platform, using SAP HANA. It included software licences, cloud based hosting services, and systems integration services using agile methods.
