Peter is a partner in our commercial team and head of our manufacturing sector group. He has 20 years' experience of the sector. Before joining the firm he worked as an in-house lawyer in the chemical sector for a number of ICI’s international speciality chemicals businesses. He was subsequently Global Legal Manager for ICI’s Acrylics business following its sale to Ineos. Since his return to private practice he has maintained a focus on working with chemicals and chemistry-using companies and with manufacturing companies in general. Coupled with that Peter has a wealth of experience in advising ports and also suppliers and customers of transport and logistics companies in relation to their infrastructure projects and operational activities.
Peter advises major multi-national companies as well as fast growing SMEs operating in a wide range of sectors with respect to their strategic projects and day-to-day activities. He is a contracts lawyer. He helps businesses ensure their contractual arrangements fulfil their commercial objectives with no unwanted consequences, balancing risk and exposure to potential liabilities with the need to get the deal done. With his previous industry experience and familiarity with industry norms Peter offers practical support and assistance in relation to all manner of commercial arrangements, including purchasing, manufacturing, sales, joint ventures and collaborative R&D and other ancillary activities. He is a member of the Leadership Team of the North East Processing Industries Cluster (NEPIC).
Peter is passionate about the manufacturing industry in its broadest sense both in terms of its importance as a major employer in the North East of England and also in terms of the significance of the sector as a whole to the UK economy.
